Capture the beauty of the Chesapeake, the race fleet and crew, shore-side events, or whatever catches your eye and submit your media for a prize:

  • Video winner $200
  • Still-image winner $100

Include your name and the file name with all submissions. Contest winners will be announced and winners contacted after the race.

All images and videos should:
  • Reflect some aspect of the Schooner Race mission.
  • Include two or more vessels.
  • Be submitted by November 15, 2022.
  • See Terms and Conditions below.
Still Images

• Submit up to five images.
• Use .jpg or .png formats.

Videos

• Videos must be one- to four-minutes in length.
• Use .mp4 or .mov format.

Photo Contest Terms & Conditions

Upon submission of this form, the GCBSR retains all publication rights for all submitted photographs. No payment for use of winning photographs will be made in addition to the stated prize. GCBSR Board Members and their immediate families are not eligible to enter. For more details, see our Photo Contest Entry Rules above. By submitting my entry, I confirm that I took the photograph, that I am the sole owner of the photograph, that I received verbal consent from all individuals depicted in the photograph prior to my taking the photograph (or received no objection from the individual(s), who was clearly aware that I was taking the photograph), that I have no reason to believe that the individual(s) would have any objection to my submission of the photograph into this photo contest nor to GCBSR’s use of it as stated in the “Entry Rules.”

Richard Sherman

As a professional photographer, Richard Sherman captures the peace and tranquility in his imagery through clean, uncluttered composition. His work is primarily focused on nature and nautical images that range from serene landscapes and seascapes to dramatic sailing images and beautiful color abstracts. Working in both color and black and white, he makes attentive use of space and natural light and considers himself a “geometric” photographer.

Sarah Hood Salomon

Sarah Hood Salomon is a fine art photographer whose work explores the emotional aspects of the world around her. Her award-winning work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows. She is a photography judge, curator, educator, and author. Sarah is represented by the Waverly Street Gallery in Bethesda, MD and Multiple Exposures Gallery in Alexandria, VA.

Doug Coulson

Doug Coulson, Photographer B.A.: Dartmouth, Religion and Philosophy M.S. and Ph.D.: University of Massachusetts, Psychology and Statistics With a good eye and technical skill. Doug works quickly, unobtrusively and with friendly intent to get relaxed portraits, group shots and candids. As an accomplished nature photographer, he brings insight and vision to the world around us; sometimes with surprising results. His byline is "I get shots that last!"
