Whether You’re in Baltimore or Portsmouth, There’s a Spot Where You Can Help.
It’s a Lot of Fun, and You’re Doing Important Work for a Great Cause.
You will find that contributing your time to support our pre-race events in Baltimore is a rewarding experience. Because many hands make light work, the volunteer roles are not difficult. If you enjoy schooners or have an interest in meeting some of the captains and their crew, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
You can help us to welcome the schooners that hail from ports as far away as New England and Florida. By treating them to our Charm City hospitality, we will keep them coming back for the GCBSR for years to come.
In Baltimore, we need volunteers for the following pre-race activities:
Docking assistance as the schooners arrive
Hospitality for the crews while they are here
Schooner liaisons are matched with a particular schooner, and each serves as a one-person welcoming committee and go-to person for the captain and crew while they are in Baltimore. New liaisons may be paired with a veteran liaison to better meet the needs of their schooners’ crew.
Assistance with our children’s educational program
Assistance hosting the private All Hands Party
The All Hands Party is a private party for captains and crews. Volunteering is your ticket to this fun event! The party planners need help setting up, serving food, selling raffle tickets and breaking down, as well as other tasks needed to successfully host a party for more than 300 people.
